Surabhi Lal is a mid-career doctoral student whose research is focused on understanding how employees’ relationships in a workplace ecosystem affect employees’ feeling of workplace belonging. She hopes that her research will allow us to better understand what actions and behaviors can be taken by individuals and organizations to create a greater sense of belonging (and human connection) in their workplaces. This research is informed by years of creating better futures of work for individuals, teams, and organizations. A boundary spanning leader, she has worked across sectors to create strong workplace communities that center belonging and learning.
Surabhi is an adjunct professor at NYU Wagner where she currently teaches strategic leadership. The founder of SL Collaborative Ventures, CliftonStrengths coach, and the host and creator of SIPS & Leadership, she is multi-passionate with a strong sense of curiosity. She is a board member at Share and Care (India). She holds a master’s degree in Education from The University of Vermont, and bachelors degrees in Agricultural Economics and Liberal Studies from Virginia Tech. She savors her craft and feeds her creativity (literally) through exploring food markets, cooking, travel, and dining.
