Prof Dharam Bhawuk

From the University of Hawaii

Dharm P. S. Bhawuk is Professor of Management and Culture and Community Psychology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, USA. His research interests include indigenous psychology and management (with a focus on India and Nepal) and cross-cultural training. Bhawuk is a citizen of the USA and was born and raised in Nepal. He has a B.Tech (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur (1979), an MBA from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (1989), and a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (1995). He is the author of the book Indian Psychology: Lessons from the Bhagavad-Gita (2011), and co-editor of the books Cambridge Handbook of Intercultural Training (with Dan Landis, 2020), Barriers and Opportunities at the Base of the Pyramid (2014, published by UNDP: Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development), and Asian Contributions to Cross-Cultural Psychology (with Janak Pandey & Durganand Sinha, 1996).

He has published more than 100 papers and book chapters and has made over 250 presentations internationally. He is a Founding Fellow of the International Academy of Intercultural Research (IAIR), a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Management (INDAM), a Foreign Fellow of the National Academy of Psychology (NAoP), India, and was an H. Smith Richardson, Jr. Visiting Fellow at the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, North Carolina (2009–2010), and a recipient of many awards. He has regularly presented at the National Academy of Psychology (NAoP) in India and organized symposia on Indian Psychology at NAoP and other universities. He has taught in China (2015–19), New Zealand (2002), and Nepal (2002) as a Visiting Professor.

Jyoti Bachani

Dr. Jyoti Bachani is a Full Professor at Saint Mary’s College of California. Her research interests are in the area of humanizing organizing using the arts, specifically poetry and improv. She teaches strategy, management of creativity and innovation, and digital storytelling, all toward practice-relevant co-creation of sustainable futures, using experiential pedagogy, simulations, and case studies.

In an earlier career, she was a strategy consultant to Fortune 200 companies. She has authored several articles, case studies, and six books, and served in editorial roles for Organizational Aesthetics, Journal of Management Inquiry, and as the founding editor of the Emerald Emerging Markets Case Collection. Among her many awards, she has been a Fulbright Senior Research Scholar, received the Best Paper Award for Field Research from the Academy of Management, and earned the Outstanding LaSallian Educator and Greater Good Awards from her college.

Ramya T. Venkateswaran

Ramya T. Venkateswaran is an Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. She joined academia after completing more than a decade of corporate work experience in India and teaches courses on Strategic Management, Strategy Execution and International Business. Her research interests are in the areas of culture in international business where her perspectives have evolved through adopting a range of perspectives – mainstream-quantitative, critical, philosophical and decolonial and with current focus on discovering indigenous research approaches. She has published in Asia Pacific Business Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Critical Perspectives on International Business, and Journal of Business Research, and presented her research work at several international conferences. She is a three-time winner of Best Reviewer awards at the Academy of Management and won a Best Instructor Award at the X-Culture project in 2018 among instructors from 37 countries.
