Soumya Dutta is a 4th year doctoral student at the prestigious Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, where his research delves into the profound intersections of responsible decision-making and Yoga-based practices. With a strong academic foundation, Soumya holds an MPhil in Cognitive Science from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and an M.A. in Mass Communication from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
Throughout his academic journey, Soumya has been recognized with numerous scholarships, travel grants, and awards from esteemed institutions both in India and abroad. These accolades include the Balendranath Tagore Memorial Scholarship, RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) travel grant for attending a conference in Europe, AUA (Asian Universities Alliance) travel grant, and the ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) travel grant for a conference visit in the USA.
In 2022, Soumya’s research excellence was acknowledged by the Management Spirituality and Religion (MSR) division of the Academy of Management USA, awarding him the prestigious MSR Fetzer Scholarship. Recently, his groundbreaking dissertation proposal, “Raja Yoga Enlightenment: Illuminating the Path to Socially Responsible Decision-making,” earned him the MSR Promising Dissertation Award 2024.
Soumya’s research is making a significant impact on the field of Humanistic Management by integrating the principles of socially responsible decision-making with the profound insights of Indian spiritual practices. His work not only bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary management practices but also paves the way for more ethical and compassionate leadership in the business world.
