Dr. Subhasis Ray is Professor at Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB), XIM University, India. At XIMB, he offers courses on B2B Marketing, Sustainability Marketing and Circular Economy. He has an MBA from IIM Calcutta, PhD from Osmania University Hyderabad and post-doctoral sustainability certifications from NUS (Singapore), Vienna University (Austria) and The World Bank Institute (USA). At XIMB, Professor Ray is the Founding Chairperson of the Centre for Business and Society that works with leading corporations and researchers on areas related to business sustainability.

Before joining academia, Prof. Ray worked with leading multi-nationals like Fosroc, Hilti Corporation and Tata Consultancy Services.

Prof. Ray has taught/spoken to students of 35+ nationalities in 25 countries at leading global universities including Harvard Business School, Cornell University, Yale University, INSEAD France, ESADE Spain, University of Queensland (Australia) and Tsinghua University (China). He has been a Visiting Professor at Soka University (Japan), Hanken School of Economics (Finland), St Petersburg State University and HSE Moscow (Russia) and EMLYON Business School (France). In India, he has been a visiting faculty at IIM- Calcutta, IIM- Indore, IIM- Kashipur and IIM- Shillong.

Most recently in 2022, he was based at Maynooth University Ireland, leading the design and delivery of a new ‘MSc in Sustainable Enterprise’ program as part of the Irish government funded euro 4 million project called Sustainable Futures.

Prof. Ray He has been active in executive education, training and consulting across the world with 20+ leading global companies. In India he has trained executives from Bosch, Infosys, Wipro, State Bank of India and Tata Power. Globally he has trained executives from Xstrata Mining in Peru, Newmont Mining in USA and Gazprom in Russia,.

He has won several grants and scholarships from IBM, DFID, IDRC, Duke-NUS, University of New Mexico, Aspen Institute, Cass Business School, UNDP, UNODC, EU, DAAD, Practical Action, Manhattan College and Bentley University. He has been a board member at the Network of Business Sustainability Canada from 2015-2020 and currently serves on the advisory board of two EU projects: RES4CITY and Batteries Europe. He is also a Research Fellow at INTI International University, Malaysia.

He has authored 50+ articles, chapters and cases that have been published in IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Australasian Marketing Journal, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, Marketing Intelligence & Planning, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Management Research Review, Journal of Global Marketing, Corporate Social Responsibility & Environmental Management, Journal of Non-profit and Public Sector Marketing, Sustainability.
